Job Description :

Sway is seeking an experienced, well rounded, digitally focused Art Director to join our Norfolk, VA team. The selected candidate will be responsible for stewarding the conception and execution of best-in-class work for a range of digital mediums as well as associated print and broadcast creative. We’re looking for someone with an impressive portfolio of client work that showcases their skill, agency experience and ability to concept and design across multiple channels. Candidates should be truly passionate about digital advertising and be an advocate for innovation to shape the creative and culture here at Sway.


5+ years experience with digital art direction
A proven history of leading design and art direction for digital work as well as developing creative solutions for an ever-changing medium
A solid command of the UX/UI design process in regards to creating best in class experiences
A well rounded knowledge of the digital product life cycle and experience driving digital projects from start to finish
Understanding of industry standard tools like Figma, and the Adobe Creative Suite
An additional understanding of print and/or broadcast

Core Responsibilities:

Develop inspiring creative concepts and designs from client insights and expressed objectives
Work collaboratively with copy writers, strategists, technologists and designers to both see your own ideas through as well as amplify the ideas of others toward the most impactful, intelligent and impressive solution
Be able to easily communicate, support and present your concepts and designs and clients
Have a sound understanding of the digital space in order to produce responsive experiences and be well versed in their production to talk through the development with your team
Have a solid background in print preparation to ready deliveries for vendors
Be a student of the industry and an influencer within the team — always sharing learned insights, trends and best practices


15 Paid Vacation Days. Days reset at your start date and do not roll over. You’ll have the ability to withdraw a negative balance of up to 5 days, and you begin the year with your days already afforded
16 Paid Holidays. Your Birthday, New Year’s Day, the Monday after the Super Bowl, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Juneteenth, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Friday after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and week between Christmas Eve and New Year’s Day
Remote Work Affordance. For the duration of your employment at Sway, except in instances of occasional and pre-scheduled in-person meetings, working from our offices in Norfolk, VA is optional so long as you stay responsive and productive
Health Plan. Sway is pleased to offer our employees the choice of two health insurance options through Allied Benefit (a Cigna Network company), with the company covering 80% of employee costs, and 50% of their dependent
Dental Insurance. Sway pays 100% of employee’s United Concordia Dental Plan
Retirement Benefits. Sway is also proud to provide a Simplified Employee Pension Plan; making contributions directly to an IRA set up for each employee that has been with the company for a minimum of 23 months (SEP-IRA)
Yearly bonuses. Unless otherwise stated, you will be eligible to receive a year-end bonus based on your performance, to be determined in Sway’s full discretion. Payment of bonuses is on the second paycheck of November each year. Additional bonuses may be awarded throughout the year based on your own (including your efforts in generating new business via your own relationships) and the company’s performance, to be determined at Sway’s discretion
Two-Hour Windows. So long as the privilege is not abused, we offer each employee 2-hour leave windows at the beginning (9am – 11am EST) and end of the workday (3pm – 5pm) to tend to any appointments like unexpected child care challenges, doctor’s visits, home maintenance, etc. that do not count against your allotted paid time off
